DREAM Charter School knows that our students reach their full potential when their families are active partners in their children's education. DREAM works hard to ensure that its families share a voice in the ongoing development of the school community and culture.
DREAM provides families with multiple opportunities to be involved in our school.
DREAM Family Guide 2013-2014
DREAM Family Volunteer Opportunities 2013
This group of our most active DREAM families meets to organize our DREAM family body, plan school events and provide DREAM with family feedback. Moreover, the DREAM Family Action Council (DFAC) meets monthly and provides a forum for parents and staff to gather and openly discuss relevant issues and plans for upcoming community events.
Charter School Advocacy
These DREAM families support DREAM and all Charter Schools with our elected officials by participating and organizing others to participate in Charter School Advocacy activities including phone banks, post card collection, meetings with legislators and the annual Charter School Advocacy Day.
DREAM Health and Wellness Committee
The committee of teachers, school leaders, the school nurse, social work team and family coordinator meets monthly to plan and implement DREAM's health and wellness policy.
DREAM family volunteers make phone calls twice a month to other families in their child's classroom to make families aware of school and classroom events and opportunities for involvement. Families meet twice a month with the Family coordinator to receive call sheets, update call logs and troubleshoot.
This team works closely with the DREAM Operations Manager to recruit new students and families to our school. The Family Recruitment Team assists with informational sessions and gives school tours to incoming families for the purposes of recruitment. The Recruitment team also serves as family liaisons at school welcome events.
Book Fair Committee
These family volunteers work to organize an Annual Scholastic book fair at DREAM Charter School to provide low cost high quality books to DREAM students and families while raising money for the DREAM family library.
Special Events Committee
Family volunteers work to plan the annual Harvest Fest, DREAM Day, potlucks, fundraisers and other school-wide calendar events that are set by DFAC and involve DREAM family participation.
